Exchange Information and Policy:
I am very interested in adding to the resources on my K1 visa link page, and would love to hear from you if you have a web site that is dedicated to the K1 visa or other, related immigration issues. However, as most people reading this know, one of the methods that modern search engines use to "rank" web sites is based on how many other web sites have links that "point" at them. Therefore, my policy when it comes to most non-governmental sites is to require the other site to put up a link to my home page in exchange for a listing on my links page. This helps both of us by increasing the chances of click-through traffic and providing the possibility of a higher search engine listing.
To request a link exchange, put up the following
link in an appropriate page of your site: K1
Fiance(e) Visa Site of Alex Halow, Immigration Attorney.
After putting the link up on your site, send me an
e-mail at Alex@k1fianceevisas.com
with a subject line reading "link exchange." In your e-mail, include:
(1) the address of the page where you have my link; and (2) all the necessary
information about the link you would like me to put up to your web site,
including the URL address and site description you want included. After
I get your e-mail, I will verify that you have put up a link to my site,
then review your site. Provided your site is acceptable, I will put up
the requested link on my "Other Useful Links" page and notify you of this
(and where to look to verify the link) by return e-mail.
A Few Ground Rules:
Right to Reject Exchange Request:I
reserve the right to "reject" a request for a URL exchange for any reason,
although I will not usually do this unless (in my sole and exclusive judgment)
the material on the site is not appropriate and/or is not closely related
enough to the K1 visa or other immigration issues to be useful to visitors
to www.k1fianceevisas.com. In particular, I will not knowingly put up
any link to a site that contains any adult, pornographic, illegal, or
otherwise objectionable material.
Right to Remove Link Without Notice:
I also reserve the right to remove a link without notice to you, including but not limited to if:
(1) I find out that you have removed your link to my site; or (2) I
find out that you have posted obscene, pornographic, illegal, or otherwise
objectionable material on your site. However, while I reserve the right
to remove any link at any time without notice to you, in most other
cases I will notify you if I do this and if possible provide an explanation
why (change in my link page emphasis; complaints about problems accessing
your site; reports of a "broken link" as your site is off-line or unavailable;
etc.).
Your Link Page Must Be An HTML File:
Link trade pages on your web site must be "plain" html files in order
for search engines to find and index them. Accordingly, by sending me
a request for a URL exchange, you are representing that you do not use
scripts to generate link pages from a database and do not plan to do
so in the future.
Link Accessibility: The
link to my site does not have to be on your home page, but does need
to be on a page that is directly accessible from your home page (in
other words, it has to be somewhere where it can be easily found by
visitors).
Personal Web Sites:
if you have a personal web site and would like to do a link exchange,
while I would expect you to put up a link to my site, I would definitely
not expect you to endorse me or my services (unless you are a present/former
client, in which case I hope you would do so anyway!). In fact, it would
even be acceptable to me if you put up a disclaimer to the effect that
you have no personal experience with me or my services (though I hope
you will considering endorsing this site as a basic information resource).
Please let me know that you are a "personal" web site in your submission
e-mail so I know what to expect in this regard.
Commercial Web Sites: while
I will definitely consider a link exchange, I will only agree to it
if your site deals with K1 or other relevant immigration issues. As
an example of a "related" site, I would be happy to consider exchanging
links with your site if you provide "international introduction" services
or if you are a legal publisher that publishes information about immigration
issues. However, I will not ordinarily do a link exchange with another
immigration attorney or other direct competitor (nothing personal; I
just think competitors need to stay "arms length" when it comes to marketing).
In particular, I will not agree to exchange links with a non-lawyer
"visa service" (which could arguably be construed to be engaged in the
unauthorized practice of law). Unless I know you/have dealt with you
personally, and can speak from personal experience, I will not agree
to specifically endorse you or your service.
The information on this web site regarding immigration, K1 fiancee visas, and K3 spouse visas is general,
and cannot be substituted for legal advice.
